Three women squat
on their haunches
playing cards undisturbed
by the legs of passengers
milling around them.
The dealer wears a purple blouse with lace inserts on the sleeves
and anklet nylons beneath open toe sandals.
They point accusingly
at each other,
laugh,
slap cards down on suitcases
stacked between them.
Above, a man stands observing,
hands folded over his belly.
He gestures, commenting on the game.
The women dismiss him with sharp words.
Two of the women have short, frizzy hair.
Now one sits on a plastic shopping bag.
They could be sisters from the back
The other wears bangs and her hair in a bun.
A small crowd forms around the game,
watches,
dissolves,
departures.
